Fender Musical Instrument Company provides a Fender Product Education Tour for employees, authorized dealers and distributors. Representing my store Guitar Stop, I had the pleasure of attending a tour in the month of April 2001. Below are pictures from my tour of the Fender factories.

Ash and Alder Blocks for USA bodies

Rough Ash block and contoured body. USA Ash bodies are usually made out of 2 pieces of wood, USA Alder bodies are usually made out of 3 pieces of wood.   Blocks of Alder for Mexican guitars come laminated with an Alder veneer and the top
beveled direct from the lumber supplier.

Pickguard Bevel

 

Drill Press

 Pickguards are cut out by a machine. A beveled edge is put on each pickguard by hand.  

 Metal press machine used for embossing metal.
